How to open a can without a can opener (by using a spoon)
Learn how to open a can without a can opener in 4 easy steps.
Ever wondered, “Is it possible to open a can without a can opener?
The answer is, “Yes, it is!”
And I am going to show you how in less than five minutes you can open a tin without a can opener by using a medium sized metal spoon and some elbow grease.
Just follow these simple steps:
- Grip the bowl of the spoon firmly with your fingertips pressing into the edge of the concave side of the bowl. Position the spoon tip near the edge of the can.
- While holding the can with your other hand, start rubbing the spoon back and forth along the edge of the lid, pushing it down at the same time to make a groove.
- Keep on rubbing until you pierce a hole through the top of the can.
- Use the edge of the spoon to slowly cut around the top – just far enough to lift the lid up to be able to get food from the can.
⚠️Exercise caution – be aware of jagged edges on the lid.
Now you know how to manually open a can by using a spoon instead of can opener.
