 Best Budget Friendly Can Openers

Top best budget friendly can openers list contains 3 tools. Purchasing any of them will not break the bank.

All recommended can openers are the manual type, two of them cut the can on the top, and one of them is a safety can opener that cuts the can on the side (read more about can opener types in Can opener buying guide).

1. EZ DUZ IT manual can opener that cuts cans on the top comes in two versions: the economy and deluxe. Buy the deluxe one.  This utensil latches on the can securely, cuts through the lid effortlessly, the knob is easy to turn, and also it is not expensive and is made in the USA. Unfortunately, it is impossible to find warranty information for this device. EZ Duz It site doesn’t function.  Steuby company (manufacturer of EZ DUZ IT) website doesn’t help much either. But this opener is an Amazon Choice product: a large number of reviewers gave it 4 and 5-star ratings. Also, it has a low return rate. Not to mention that it is the #1 recommendation on the  Wirecutter website that tests  gadgets.

2. Swing-A-Way Easy Crank is a joy to use. The extra long crank handle gives good leverage and makes can opening tasks really easy. This opener can be a good choice for budget conscious people with weak hands or arthritis. It also comes with lifetime limited warranty (as stated on Amazon product page, I couldn’t confirm it with Amco Houseworks – the maker of Swing-A-Way at the present moment). The only problem that I see with it – you will need to hold short cans (like canned tuna) up in the air while opening them or have it hanging over the edge of the counter because the crank will hit the table otherwise. This can opener seems most convenient to use on taller cans.

3. Good Cook Safe Cut can opener is a clear winner in the best budget friendly can openers category. It is hard to believe that you can get a safety can opener (one that leaves smooth edge after cutting and whose wheel doesn’t touch the food eliminating the risk of cross-contamination) with a lifetime warranty for an incredibly cheap price (at  time of writing).

Other possible budget choices: Bartelli 3-in-1 soft edge ambidextrous safety can opener (read more in Best ambidextrous can openers), Bartelli soft edge safety can opener and bottle opener, Japanese can opener Ganji Kankiri  (get more information in Top 5 can openers).

Below, you can see at glance, compare side-by-side, and purchase one of the top 3 budget-friendly can openers. Note, that the faded out text in the tables shows what features are not available in the particular opener.
